Active ingredient

Pyrantel pills:
1 pill contains pyrantel 250 mg;

Mechanism of action

Pyrantel - antihelminthic drug. Affects the musculature of intestinal nematodes by depolarizing their neuromuscular junction and blockade of cholinesterase action. Active against Enterobius vermicularis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus, Trichostrongylus orientalis, Trichostrongylus colubriformis. It acts on both mature and immature individuals of both sexes, does not affect the larvae in the migration stage.

Indications and usage

Ascariasis; hookworm; necatoriasis; enterobiasis.

Dosage and administration

Set individually depending on the age and body weight of the patient.
Children from 6 months to 2 years - 125 mg (1/2 tab. Or 1/2 lod.)
children from 2 to 6 years old - 250 mg (1 tab. or 1 bed.)
children from 6 to 12 years old - 500 mg (2 tab. or 2 beds.)
children over 12 years old and adults weighing less than 75 kg - 750 mg (3 tab. or 3 beds.)
Adults with a body weight of more than 75 kg - 1 g (4 tab. Or 4 lodges.)
1 scoop = 5 ml.

When ascariasis and enterobiasis the drug is prescribed once per dose at the rate of 10 mg / kg body weight. In some cases, the use of the drug is acceptable in the minimum dose of 5 mg / kg.
For hookworm administered at a dose of 10 mg / kg / day for 3 days.
In severe forms of necatoria (massive invasions of Necator americanus) administered at a dose of 20 mg / kg / day for 2 days.

Adverse reactions

Gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain are possible; seldom -
increased activity of hepatic transaminases.
Nervous system: rarely - headache, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, weakness; in some cases - hearing impairment, hallucinations, confusion, paresthesia.
Other: skin rash, fever.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to pyrantel.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Adequate and strictly controlled studies of the safety of the use of Pirantel during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) was not conducted. Use of the drug in these periods is possible only if the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.

Special notes
