Short description

Pharmacological action - anthelmintic. With enterobiasis - 100 mg, once, and after 2-4 weeks another 100 mg (to prevent re-invasion). With ascariasis, trichiureosis, hookworm disease or mixed infections - 100 mg 2 times a day (morning and evening) for 3 days .In case of teniasis and strongyloidosis, adults - 200 mg 2 times a day for 3 days, children - 100 mg 2 times a day for 3 days.

pharmachologic effect

Broad-spectrum anthelmintic drug. Most effective against Enterobius vermicularis, Trichuris trichiura, Ascaris lumbricoides, Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus, Strongyloides stercoralis, Taenia spp., Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Trichinella spiralis, Trichinella naella nella. Causing irreversible impairment of glucose utilization, it depletes glycogen stores in helminth tissues, interferes with the synthesis of cellular tubulin, and also inhibits the synthesis of ATP.

Indications

Both with monoinvasion, and with mixed gastrointestinal helminthiasis: - enterobiasis; - ascariasis; - ankylostomiasis (ankylostomiasis, non-kotorosis); - strongyloidosis; - trichocephalosis; - trichinosis; - teniasis; - echinococcosis (if surgical treatment is impossible).

Method of administration and dosage

Inside with a little water. The tablets can be chewed or swallowed whole. For young children, crush the tablet before use. It is recommended that all family members be treated simultaneously. During treatment, no special measures, such as following a special diet or taking laxatives, are required. Adults and children over 3 years of age With enterobiasis - once 100 mg (1 tab.). Since re-infection (reinfection) with Enterobius vermicularis occurs very often, it is recommended to repeat the treatment after 2-4 weeks. With ascariasis, trichocephalosis, ankylostomiasis, necatorosis and mixed helminthiasis, adults and patients over 3 years old (regardless of body weight and age) - 200 mg / day (1 tab. In the morning and 1 tab. In the evening); the course of treatment is 3 days. With teniasis, strongyloidosis for adults - 400 mg / day (2 tablets in the morning and 2 tablets in the evening); the course of treatment is 3 days. Children over 3 years old 200 mg / day (1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening); the course of treatment is 3 days. Adults and children over 14 years old With echinococcosis in the first 3 days - 500 mg 2 times / day, in the next 3 days the dose is increased to 500 mg 3 times / day; further the dose is increased to 1000-1500 mg 3 times / day. The average duration of treatment for echinococcosis caused by Echinococcus granulosus is 4-6 weeks, caused by Echinococcus multilocularis - up to 2 years. With trichinosis - on the 1st day, 200-300 mg 3 times / day, on the 2nd day, 200-300 mg 4 times / day, and from 3 to 14 days - 500 mg 3 times / day.

Side effects

From the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions of the type of anaphylactic and anaphylactoid reactions. From the hematopoietic system: neutropenia. From the gastrointestinal tract: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea. From the liver and biliary tract: increased activity of hepatic transaminases, alkaline phosphatase, hepatitis (when used in high doses for a long time). Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: urticaria, angioedema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, exanthema. From the nervous system: dizziness, headache, drowsiness, convulsions in infants. From the urinary system: hypercreatininemia, glomerulonephritis (when used in high doses for a long time). Laboratory and instrumental data: leukopenia, anemia, eosinophilia (when used in high doses for a long time). Others: hair loss (when used in high doses for a long time).

Contraindications

- hypersensitivity to mebendazole and other components of the drug; - ulcerative colitis; - Crohn's disease; - liver failure; - children's age up to 3 years (for this dosage form); - pregnancy; - lactation period (breastfeeding); - lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption.

Overdose

Symptoms: colicky abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. When used in high doses for a long time - reversible liver dysfunction, hepatitis, neutropenia. Treatment: it is necessary to remove the drug from the stomach within the first hour after ingestion, causing vomiting or making a gastric lavage, taking activated charcoal. There is no specific antidote, symptomatic therapy is recommended.special instructions

In patients with diabetes mellitus, it is necessary to monitor the concentration of glucose in the blood. With prolonged use of the drug, it is necessary to monitor the peripheral blood picture, liver and kidney function. During the day after ingestion, the use of ethanol, fatty foods is prohibited, a laxative is not prescribed. Periodic examination of smears of the anal area and feces after the end of treatment is mandatory: therapy is considered effective in the absence of helminths or their eggs for 7 consecutive days. The drug contains lactose, so patients with rare hereditary lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or impaired glucose / galactose absorption should not take this drug. The results of studies on the development of Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis indicate a possible relationship between their occurrence
