Composition

Amphotericin B lyophilized powder for solution for infusion 50,000 IU

Amphotericin B ointment 30 000 IU

Mechanism of action

Antifungal. Amphotericin B binds to the sterols (ergosterols) of the cell membrane of sensitive fungi. As a result, the permeability of the membrane is disrupted and the intracellular components enter the extracellular space.

GI candidosis, intestinal candidiasis, candidiasis of internal organs, chronic and granulomatous disseminated forms of candidiasis, coccidioidosis, cryptococcosis, histoplasmosis, North American blastomycosis, chromomycosis, mold mycosis, sporotrichosis.

Dosage and administration

Amphotericin B solution in iv drip (20–30 drops / min) for 3–6 hours. Amphotericin B ointment is applied topically, 1–2 times a day in a thin layer (up to 4 times). The course of treatment is at least 10 days.

Adverse reactions

From the nervous system and sensory organs: headache, polyneuropathy, blurred vision, diplopia.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance to antibiotics, diseases of the liver and kidneys. diseases of the hematopoietic system, diabetes.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

With caution during pregnancy (adequate and strictly controlled studies of the safety of use in pregnant women have not been conducted). At the time of treatment should stop breastfeeding (it is not known whether amphotericin B penetrates into breast milk).

In the process of treatment requires systematic monitoring of the function of the kidneys, liver, blood composition and the level of potassium in the blood.
