Clotrimazole

Mechanism of action
CLOTRIMAZOL - antifungal agent group of imidazole derivatives for local use. It has an effect due to a violation of the synthesis of ergosterol, which is an integral part of the cell membrane of fungi. It has a wide spectrum of action.
Active against dermatophytes, mold fungi, fungi of the genus Candida, Malassezia furfur.
Clotrimazole is also active against Corynebacterium minutissimum, Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Trichomonas vaginalis.
Indications and usage
Fungal lesions of the skin and mucous membranes caused by dermatophytes, mold and yeast-like fungi, versicolor lichen, erythrasma, vulvovaginal candidiasis, trichomoniasis, mycoses, complicated by secondary pyoderma.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Clotrimazole, I trimester of pregnancy.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
AT experimental studies found that when used in high doses clotrimazole has an embryotoxic effect.
It is not known whether clotrimazole with breast milk. Although clotrimazole not contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation, you should consider the potential risk when choosing antifungal therapy.
Dosage and administration
When applied topically applied to the affected skin 2-3 times / day. within 2-4 weeks.

Intravaginal - 100-500 mg for 1-6 days.
Adverse reactions
Local reactions: contact allergic dermatitis, redness, burning sensation.
With simultaneous use with amphotericin B, Nystatin, the activity of clotrimazole is reduced.
