Active ingredient and dosage form

Tocopherol acetate 10 or 30% oral solution in vials of 20 or 50 ml.
Tocopherol acetate capsules 50% 200 mg to 10 pcs. packaged.

Mechanism of action

Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant (antioxidant).
Vitamin E:
Protects various substances from oxidative changes.
Participates in the biosynthesis of heme and proteins.
Participates in cell proliferation.
Participates in tissue respiration and other important processes of cellular metabolism.

The use of large doses of the drug can cause:

Increased creatine kinase activity.
Creatinuria.
Hypercholesterolemia.
Growth of white hair in areas of alopecia with bubbly epidermolysis.

Dosage and administration

Vitamin E is prescribed by mouth. The usual recommended dose for adults is 100-200 IU, daily, during or after meals, for 1-2 months. If necessary, after 2-3 months, repeat courses are held. Long-term administration of Vitamin E in doses exceeding 150 IU / day is not recommended.
With increased loads, sometimes higher doses are used - up to 600 IU / day; in rare cases, appoint up to 1000 IU / day. The maximum daily dose of Vitamin E is 1000 mg (1100 IU synthetic or 1500 IU natural vitamin E).
Children 6-12 years old, Vitamin E is prescribed at 50-100 IU / day; pre-school children - 20-40 IU / day; Infants - 5-10 IU per day.
