Composition
Solution for external use of 3%: in a bottle of 25 or 40 ml.
Pharmacology
Antiseptic, hemostatic, disinfectant, deodorizing.
The antiseptic effect is due to the oxidative effect - when in contact with damaged skin and hydrogen mucous membranes, peroxide under the influence of catalase (mainly) and peroxidase disintegrates with oxygen (including active forms), which creates unfavorable conditions for the development of microorganisms, especially anaerobic and putrid flora; at the same time, it is characterized by a short duration and a weak effect. When the solution gets into the wound, destruction (oxidation) of proteins, blood, pus, and its mechanical purification occurs due to abundant foaming (due to gas bubbles rising from the walls) from contaminating particles, small foreign bodies, blood clots. This foaming contributes to thrombosis and stop bleeding from small vessels.
Indications and usage
Primary treatment of superficial contaminated wounds, cleansing wounds from pus and blood clots, stopping capillary bleeding from superficial wounds, tooth hole and nose bleeds.
The drug is used externally for washing and rinsing with stomatitis, sore throat, gynecological diseases.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Dosage and administration
The surface of the skin, wounds or ulcers are treated with tampons soaked in a solution, contaminated wounds, ulcers are treated with a stream. For the treatment of mucous membranes - in the form of washes and rinses, while rinsing the mouth and throat is diluted with water to a concentration of 0.2-0.3% (1 tablespoon per 1 cup of water).
Adverse reactions
Allergic reactions (rarely), burning sensation in the wound area.
Drug interactions
It is destroyed and loses its effectiveness when interacting with alkalis and salts of heavy metals.
Contact with the drug should be avoided (in case of contact with eyes, rinse with water). Not recommended for irrigation cavities and under occlusive dressings.
In addition to external use, a 3% solution is also used internally in toxicological practice as an antidote (in combination with a 3% solution of acetic acid) for poisoning with Potassium permanganate.
Storage conditions
In a cool dark place.
