Active ingredient and dosage form

Panavir injection 0.004% (0.2 mg of the active substance)
5 ml vials, 2 or 5 ampoules per pack.
Panavir - purified extract of shoots of the plant Solanum tuberosum. The main active ingredient is hexose glycoside, consisting of glucose, rhamnose, arabinose, mannose, xylose, galactose, uronic acids; excipients: sodium chloride 0.9 g., water for injection up to 100 ml.
The drug is a clear, colorless liquid, odorless, salty taste.

Panavir gel for external use: 3 g in a tube.

Mechanism of action

Panavir is an antiviral agent, a plant polysaccharide belonging to the class of hexose glycosides. Increases the body’s non-specific resistance to various infections and contributes to the induction of Interferon.
Panavir is a protector and protects cells from the effects of viruses.
Panavir has the ability to inhibit the replication of viruses in infected cell cultures and leads to a significant decrease in the titers of the infectious activity of viruses.
Panavir increases the viability of infected cells.
At therapeutic doses, the drug is well tolerated. Tests have shown the absence of a mutagenic, teratogenic, carcinogenic, allergenic, embryotoxic action.

Panavir gel intended for the external treatment of herpetic eruptions and manifestations of the papillomavirus.
When applying the gel on the affected areas of the skin, oral mucosa and external genital organs, a steady effect of suppressing the skin manifestations of herpes and HPV infection was observed in 70-80 percent of cases.
The positive effect of the use of the gel was also noted in the presence of contagious mollusks.
In some cases, in the treatment of flat wart gel can serve as a means of monotherapy.
The use of Panavir gel after destructive treatment (cryodestruction in combination with plasma or laser coagulation) allows to avoid recurrence and to achieve a persistent clinical effect.

Indications and usage

Panavir is intended for the treatment of infections caused by DNA and RNA viruses:
- chronic recurrent herpes infection;
- papillomavirus infection;
- viral dermatosis;
- tick-borne encephalitis.

Dosage and administration

Panavir in solution is used for intravenous administration of a therapeutic dose of 200 μg (the contents of one ampoule or vial) of the active substance twice with an interval of 48 or 24 hours. If necessary, a month later the course of treatment can be repeated.
Panavir solution to introduce a jet slowly.
For herpes - 5 ml IV per 48 hours, repeat the treatment after 1 month or at the time of exacerbation.
For papillomavirus infection - 5 ml i / v after 48 hours, then 5 ml i / v 1 time in 7 days. Only 5 injections.
With tick-borne encephalitis - 5 ml i.v. with an interval of 48 hours, a total of 3 injections.

Contraindications

Adverse reactions
