Composition
Panavir (purified extract of the shoots of the plant Solanum tuberosum, the main active ingredient is a hexose glycoside consisting of glucose, rhamnose, arabinose, mannose, xylose, galactose, uronic acids)

Mechanism of action
Panavir is an antiviral agent, a plant polysaccharide belonging to the class of hexose glycosides. Increases the body’s non-specific resistance to various infections and contributes to the induction of Interferon.
Panavir is a protector and protects cells from the effects of viruses.
Panavir has the ability to inhibit the replication of viruses in infected cell cultures and leads to a significant decrease in the titers of the infectious activity of viruses.
Panavir increases the viability of infected cells.
At therapeutic doses, the drug is well tolerated. Tests have shown the absence of a mutagenic, teratogenic, carcinogenic, allergenic, embryotoxic action.
Indications and usage
Panavir is intended for the treatment of infections caused by DNA and RNA viruses:
- chronic recurrent herpes infection;
- papillomavirus infection;
- viral dermatosis;
- tick-borne encephalitis.
Contraindications
- individual intolerance;
- patients with severe pathology of the kidneys, spleen;
- childhood;
- pregnancy, lactation;
Panavir should not be used in patients who are allergic to the compound components of the drug: glucose, mannose, rhamnose, arabinose, xylose.
Dosage and administration
Outwardly and locally. The gel is applied with a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin and / or mucous membranes 5 times a day. Duration of treatment is 4–5 days. The course of treatment can be extended to 10 days.
Adverse reactions
There may be a rapidly passing redness and itching of the skin and / or mucous membranes at the site of application of the gel.
Special notes
It is recommended to start treatment at the earliest possible stage of the disease, at the first signs (itching, tingling, redness, feeling of tension), in this case the development of the bubbly stage of the disease can be completely prevented.
