Active ingredient and dosage form

Coated tablets: 1 pill contains extracts of valerian 50 mg, peppermint 25 mg, lemon balm 25 mg;
other ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, crospovidone, lactose monohydrate, talc, Magnesium stearate, anhydrous colloidal silicon, hypromellose, carmellose sodium, glycerol, Calcium carbonate, sucrose, synthetic wax, dyes: iron oxide (E172), titanium dioxide;
in a blister, 10 pcs., in a box of 4 blisters.

1 capsule contains extracts of valerian 125 mg, peppermint 25 mg, lemon balm 25 mg;
other ingredients: magnesium oxide, lactose, talc, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide.
The composition of the shell of the capsule: gelatin, preservatives: methyl parahydrobenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), dyes: titanium dioxide (E171), amaranth (E123), tartrazine (E102), dye sunset yellow (E110), ferric oxide (E172);
in a blister of 10 pcs., in a box of 2 blisters.

Mechanism of action

Phytopreparation with a sedative effect. Rhizomes with valerian roots contain essential oil with monoterpenes, sexviterpenes and less volatile valeric acids, gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), glutamine and arginine, are used for increased nervous excitability, have a sedative and spasmolytic effect.
Leaves of lemon balm have a calming and antispasmodic effect.
The active ingredients contained in the leaves of melissa are essential oils, monoterpene aldehydes, such as geranium, neroli and cedar oils, flavonoids, glucosides, monoterpenes, tannins (rosmarinic acid), triterpenic acids and bitter substances. Peppermint leaves have a spasmolytic effect on smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as choleretic and carminative effects. The main active ingredients contained in peppermint leaves include essential oil with menthol, flavonoids, phenolic and triterpenic acid. Peppermint leaves are traditionally used together with rhizome and valerian roots as part of sedative plant collections.

Indications and usage

As a sedative with:
- increased nervous excitability;
- sleep disorders;
- insomnia;
- irritability;
- a feeling of inner tension.

Dosage and administration

Adults and teenagers over 12 years old drug is prescribed by 2-3 tab. or 1-2 caps. The drug is taken 2-3 times / day.
For insomnia - 2-3 tab. or 1-2 caps. an hour before bedtime.
Children aged 3 to 12 years the drug is prescribed only under the supervision of a doctor and only in the form of tablets. The dose depends on the patient's body weight, on average, 1 pill 1-3 times per day.

Adverse reactions

Maybe: allergic reactions, fatigue; with prolonged use - constipation.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, pills - children's age up to 3 years, capsules - children's age up to 12 years.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Adequate and strictly controlled studies of the safety of the drug during pregnancy has not been conducted. The question of the advisability of using the drug during pregnancy (especially in the first trimester) and during lactation (breastfeeding) is decided by the doctor individually.

The drug is used for mild sleep disorders and nervous excitability.
The duration of treatment is not limited. Even with long-term use of pills or capsules, there is no dependence.
With the abolition of the drug withdrawal syndrome does not develop.
Influence on ability to drive motor transport and control mechanisms
When using the drug in some cases, it is possible to decrease the speed of psychomotor reactions, therefore, its use immediately before practicing potentially hazardous activities requiring increased attention is not recommended.

Overdosage

Symptoms: a single dose of 20 g of rhizomes with valerian roots (approximately 39 capsules of Persena forte) can cause non-hazardous phenomena: fatigue, stomach cramps, chest tightness, dizziness, tremor, pupil dilation, which can pass on their own within 24 hours.
Treatment: gastric lavage; if necessary, conduct symptomatic therapy.

Drug Interactions

With the simultaneous use of Persena with other drugs that depress the central nervous system (includinghypnotic drugs, antihypertensive drugs of central action, analgesics), may enhance the effect on the central nervous system (may require dose adjustment).

The drug should be stored in a dry place inaccessible to children at a temperature not higher than 25 ° C.
