Mechanism of action

Valoserdine is a combined drug whose therapeutic effect is due to the pharmacological properties of the components that make up its composition.

Phenobarbital has sedative and mild hypnotic effects. It helps to reduce the excitation of the central nervous system and facilitates the onset of natural sleep.

Ethyl bromizovaleanate also has a sedative and antispasmodic effect.

Peppermint oil has a reflex vasodilator and spasmolytic activity.

Indications and usage

Valoserdine is prescribed as a sedative and vasodilator with:

- Disorders of the cardiovascular system.
- Neurosis-like states, accompanied by increased irritability.
- Broken sleep.
- Tachycardias.
- A state of excitement with pronounced vegetative manifestations.

Contraindications

- Hypersensitivity to the drug.
- Severe renal and / or liver function disorders.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Contraindicated in pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Dosage and administration

Valoserdin is accepted inside, to food, with a small amount of liquid. The dosage is set individually.

- Adults are usually prescribed 15-20 drops 3 times daily before meals. With tachycardia, it is possible to increase a single dose up to 40-50 drops.
- Children are prescribed at the rate of 1 drop per year of life of the child and depending on the clinical picture of the disease.

The duration of the drug is determined individually by a doctor.

Adverse reactions

Valoserdine is generally well tolerated even with prolonged use.

In some cases, drowsiness and slight dizziness may be observed in the daytime. With prolonged use of large doses, chronic bromine poisoning may develop, manifestations of which are:

- Depressed mood.
- Apathy.
- Rhinitis.
- Conjunctivitis.
- Hemorrhagic diathesis.
- Violation of coordination of movements.

If any side effects (unusual) that are not reflected in the instructions, must be reported to your doctor.

Special notes

If necessary, the appointment of the drug during lactation should decide on the termination of breastfeeding.

The drug contains 55% by volume of ethanol and phenobarbital, so patients receiving Valoserdin are not recommended to engage in activities associated with increased attention and require the speed of mental and motor responses.

With long-term use of the drug may form of drug dependence, possibly the accumulation of bromine in the body and the development of poisoning them.

Drug interactions

With the simultaneous use of Valoserdin and sedatives, mutual enhancement of effects is possible.

Simultaneous use with neuroleptics and tranquilizers strengthens, and with CNS stimulants it weakens the effect of each of the components of the drug. Alcohol enhances the effects of Valoserdin and may increase its toxicity.

The presence of phenobarbital in the composition can induce liver enzymes, and this makes undesirable its simultaneous use with drugs that are metabolized in the liver, since their concentration, and accordingly, the efficiency will decrease as a result of more accelerated metabolism (indirect anticoagulants, antibiotics, sulfonamides, etc.). Phenobarbital weakens the effect of coumarin derivatives, glucocorticosteroids, Griseofulvin, and oral contraceptives.

Valoserdine may increase the toxicity of Methotrexate.

Overdosage

- Symptoms. In light and moderate poisoning, drowsiness, dizziness, psychomotor disturbances are observed. In severe cases, coma, decreased blood pressure, respiratory failure, tachycardia, vascular collapse, reduced peripheral reflexes.
- Treatment: flush the stomach, take activated charcoal and call a doctor.

Storage conditions

- Store in a dark place at room temperature.
