Active ingredient and dosage form
Kamiren - tablets: 1 pill contains Doxazosin 1, 2, or 4 mg; in a blister strip packaging 10 pcs., in a cardboard bundle 2 or 3 packs.
Mechanism of action
Kamiren has a hypotensive, vasodilator, lipid-lowering, antispasmodic action. Selectively blocks postsynaptic alpha1-adrenoreceptors. It lowers the OPSS, the level of total cholesterol, LDL and triglycerides and increases the content of HDL in the serum. It prevents the development of atherosclerosis and IHD, inhibits platelet aggregation. Kamiren reduces the mass of the left ventricle (with long-term treatment). It prevents the contraction of the smooth muscles of the upper part of the urethra and the muscles of the prostate gland, facilitates urination and eliminates the dysuric symptoms accompanying benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Indications and usage
Arterial hypertension of mild or moderate severity (monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs), benign prostatic hyperplasia (symptomatic treatment).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, incl. to other derivatives of quinazoline (prazosin, terazosin) or to other components of Kamiren, obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract or esophagus, narrowing of the gastrointestinal tract of any degree, children's age.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Perhaps if the expected effect of therapy outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. At the time of treatment should stop breastfeeding.
Adverse reactions
Since the cardiovascular system and blood (hematopoiesis, hemostasis): arterial hypotension (especially at the beginning of treatment and increasing the dose of Kamiren when moving from a prone position or sitting to a standing position), very rarely - exacerbation of angina, myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular stroke, heart rhythm disturbance (however, it was not established that doxazosin was the cause); thrombocytopenia.
On the part of the respiratory system: nasal congestion or nasal discharge, flu-like symptoms, bronchitis, shortness of breath.
On the part of the gastrointestinal tract: very rarely - nausea, cholestasis, hepatitis, impaired liver function indicators.
On the part of the musculoskeletal system: muscle weakness.

For the skin: very rarely - skin rash, purpura.
Other: hematuria, nasal bleeding, swelling of the ankles and legs.
