Mechanism of action

Novocainamide has a membrane stabilizing effect.

It lowers the excitability and conductivity of the heart muscle, inhibits the formation of impulses in the foci of automatism, has a local anesthetic effect.

Indications and usage

Applied with various violations of the heart rhythm:
Ventricular arrhythmias.
Extrasystole.
Paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia.
Supraventricular arrhythmias.
Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Atrioventricular block 2 and 3 degrees.
Myocardial infarction.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Dosage and administration

Take the drug inside, regardless of the meal.
For relief of ventricular extrasystoles

0.25-1.0 g, then 0.25-0.5 g every 3-6 hours (if necessary, the dose can be increased to 3-4 g).

With paroxysmal atrial fibrillation

1.0-1.5 g (once). After 1 hour (in the absence of a therapeutic effect), another 0.5 g and then every 2 hours, 0.5-1.0 g (before stopping the paroxysm).

Adverse reactions

Overdosage

Symptoms: confusion, decreased urination, severe dizziness or fainting, rapid or irregular heartbeat, nausea or vomiting.
Treatment: when the above symptoms of overdose occur, urgent medical consultation is required. Before the arrival of the doctor, it is recommended to drink a large amount of liquid (2-3 liters) and induce vomiting.
