Active ingredient and dosage form

Anauran ear drops contain:
polymyxin B sulfate, 1,000,000 IU, neomycin sulfate 0.5 g (equivalent to 375,000 IU) of Lidocaine hydrochloride;
in dark-glass dropper bottles of 25 ml.

Mechanism of action

Anauran - a drug with antimicrobial and local anesthetic action for local use in ENT-practice

Indications and usage

- Acute and chronic external otitis
- Medium acute otitis media at the pre-perforation stage.
- Chronic exudative otitis media.
- Postoperative purulent complications after:
- Radical mastoidectomy.
- Tympanoplasty.
- Antrotomii.
- Fenestration.

Dosage and administration

Anauran is buried in the external auditory canal with a special pipette and held there for as long as possible (the patient keeps his head tilted to one side for a few minutes).
Adults take 4–5 drops 2–4 times a day, children take 2–3 drops 3-4 times a day, depending on the severity of the disease.

Adverse reactions

Possible local allergic reactions that disappear without treatment, after the abolition of Anauran: Hyperemia, itching and peeling of the skin of the external auditory canal. Systemic effects are unlikely due to low doses of the drug used. However, with prolonged treatment with Anauran, systemic effects may occur, in particular, ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity due to the absorption of neomycin.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to one of the components of Anauran. In children under 1 year old, the drug should be used only when absolutely necessary and under the supervision of a doctor.

Special notes

During pregnancy and lactation, Anauran should be used only when absolutely necessary and under the supervision of a physician.
