Active ingredient and dosage form
Spray nasal 0.05%:
1 ml contains oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.5 mg;
in polyethylene bottles with a spray of 10 ml.
Mechanism of action
Nazivin - a vasoconstrictor drug for local use, alpha2-adrenergic medication.
When applied topically to the inflamed mucous membranes of the nose reduces their swelling and the number of secretions; restores nasal breathing. It helps to restore aeration of the paranasal sinuses, the middle ear cavity and prevents the development of bacterial complications (sinusitis, sinusitis, otitis media).
The drug begins to act within a few minutes. Duration up to 12 hours
Indications and usage
Acute rhinitis (including allergic), vasomotor rhinitis, paranasal sinusitis, eustachitis, otitis media. Narrowing of the vessels of the mucous membrane for diagnostic purposes (under the supervision of a physician).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, atrophic rhinitis, angle-closure glaucoma. Age up to 1 year - for Nazivin 0.025 and 0.05%; age up to 6 years - for Nazivin 0.05%.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is not allowed to exceed the recommended dosage. Nazivin should be used only after a thorough assessment of the balance between benefits and risks for the mother and the fetus.
Dosage and administration
Intranasal: for adults and children over 6 years old - 1 injection in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day. Nazivin is applied for 3-5 days.
Adverse reactions
Sometimes - burning or dryness of the nasal mucosa, sneezing; rarely, a strong feeling of nasal congestion (reactive hyperemia); very rarely - anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, headache, nausea. Multiple overdose with local nasal use sometimes leads to systemic sympathomimetic effects, such as increased heart rate (tachycardia) and increased blood pressure.
Storage conditions
Store in a cool and dark place, protected from light and moisture, at a temperature not higher than 25 ° C.
