Mechanism of action
Rinopront is a combined drug for systemic use for diseases of the upper respiratory tract. Phenylephrine (a-adrenomimetik) has a vasoconstrictor effect, which leads to a decrease in edema and hyperemia of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract and paranasal sinuses. Carbinoxamine has an antihistamine effect, has a moderately pronounced anticholinergic activity. Rinopront for 10-12 hours eliminates the symptoms of rhinitis, a burning sensation in the eyes and heaviness in the head.
Indications and usage
Symptomatic treatment of rhinitis of various origins (infectious-inflammatory, allergic, vasomotor); sinusitis; hay fever.
- Thyrotoxicosis, pheochromocytoma, angle-closure glaucoma, prostate adenoma with the formation of residual urine, arterial hypertension, simultaneous administration of MAO inhibitors, hypersensitivity to the drug.
- Children's age up to 12 years.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Rinopront has no embryotoxic effect. However, the occurrence of systemic side effects in a baby while breastfeeding cannot be excluded.During pregnancy and lactation, the drug should be prescribed only when the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.

Dyspeptic disorders: nausea, vomiting, heartburn and loss of appetite.
From the side of the central nervous system
In rare cases, fatigue, dizziness, feeling of weakness, sleep disturbances, increased nervous irritability, psychomotor agitation, tremor, headache, acute cerebrovascular accident, are possible.
Since the cardiovascular system
Occasionally, heartbeat, arrhythmia, pain in the region of the heart, arterial hypertension may occur.
Urticaria and other skin allergies.
From other organs and systems
Dry mouth, nose and throat. In rare cases, there may be visual impairment or provoking the occurrence of angle-closure glaucoma, urination disorders. Very rarely - changes in the blood picture (thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis).
Caution should be exercised in patients with severe organic diseases of the heart and blood vessels, as well as cardiac arrhythmias: in this case, the dose of Rinopront should be selected individually. Patients with thyroid disease, diabetes, or arterial hypertension can use Rinopront only under the supervision of a physician.
Precautions should be prescribed the drug to patients engaged in potentially hazardous activities that require increased attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
With simultaneous use, Rinopront enhances the action of central nervous system depressants, such as alcohol, anxiolytics, sedatives and hypnotics. Simultaneous administration of guanethidine may potentiate the sympathomimetic (ie, vasoconstrictor) effect of the drug.
In infants and elderly patients, in the event of an overdose, a state of psychomotor agitation may develop.
In such cases, you should immediately consult with a doctor who, if necessary, will take appropriate measures:
Patients with symptoms of acute overdose are recommended to have a gastric lavage. In addition, if there are adverse reactions associated with the sympathomimetic effect of the drug, sympatholytic drugs should be taken, and patients with seizures should be given diazepam or IV short-acting barbiturates. With respiratory paralysis, intubation and artificial ventilation of the lungs are performed.
