pharmachologic effect

The Golden Star Nose is a vasoconstrictor for nasal use, an alpha-adrenostimulyator, constricts the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, eliminating edema and hyperemia of the mucous membrane. Relieves nasal breathing in rhinitis.

The action comes in a few minutes and lasts for several hours.

Indications

Acute allergic rhinitis, acute respiratory disease with symptoms of rhinitis, sinusitis, pollinosis; otitis media (to reduce swelling of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx). Preparing the patient for diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance to the components of the drug, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, marked atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, thyrotoxicosis, surgery on the meninges (in history), pregnancy, children (up to 6 years).

Carefully:
lactation period, ischemic heart disease (angina), prostatic hyperplasia, diabetes mellitus.

special instructions

Not recommended frequent and long-term use in chronic diseases of the nasopharynx. In case of “catarrhal” diseases in cases when crusts form in the nose, it is preferable to prescribe it as a gel.

Do not use simultaneously with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Composition

10 ml of solution contain:

Active substance: Xylometazoline hydrochloride 10 mg;

Excipients: sodium dihydrophosphate, sodium hydrophosphate, sodium chloride, benzalkonium chloride, purified water;

Dosage and administration

Intranasal. Adults and children over 6 years: 2-3 drops in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day. Do not use more than 3 times a day. Apply within 7-14 days.

Side effects

When applied, it can cause a burning sensation in the nose and throat, local irritation, paresthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion, dryness of the nasal mucosa. Allergic reactions are possible. Rarely - swelling of the nasal mucosa, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, headache, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, blurred vision; depression (with prolonged use in high doses). If symptoms occur, discontinue use and consult a doctor.

Storage conditions

Store in a dry place at a temperature not higher than + 25 ° C.
