Mechanism of action

Rhinorus - belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictor agents (decongestants) with alpha-adrenomimetic activity, causes constriction of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, eliminating swelling and hyperemia of the nasal mucosa, restores the nasal passability, facilitates nasal breathing. The effect of the drug occurs within a few minutes after its use and lasts up to 10 hours.

Indications and usage

• acute rhinitis (including in acute respiratory diseases);
• allergic rhinitis (if there is no allergy to eucalyptus oil);
• sinusitis (sinusitis, frontal sinusitis);
• otitis media (as part of combination therapy to reduce swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, marked atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, hyperthyroidism, surgical procedures on the meninges (in the anamnesis), pregnancy, child age (up to 6 years for 0.1% solution and for 0.05% solution - to 2 years).
Do not use in the treatment of monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
Carefully: diabetes mellitus, lactation period, coronary artery disease, angina of the III-IV functional class, prostatic hyperplasia.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

During pregnancy and lactation, the drug should be used only after a careful assessment of the ratio of benefits to the mother and the risk to the fetus and child, with caution, it is not allowed to exceed the recommended doses.

Dosage and administration

Adults and children over 6 years old - 1 (one) injection of 0.1% spray into each nostril (nasal passage) 3 times a day.
If necessary, you can repeat the injection (no more than two injections at the same time).
Children from 2 to 6 years old - 1 (one) injection of 0.05% spray into each nostril (nasal passage) 1-2 times a day.
Do not use the drug more than 3 times a day.
The duration of treatment is no more than 5-7 days (without a break).
After completion of therapy, the drug can be reappointed only after a few days.
The duration of the drug in children is determined by the doctor.

Adverse reactions

With frequent and / or long-term use - irritation and / or dryness of the nasopharyngeal mucosa, burning, paresthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion; rarely - swelling of the nasal mucosa, vomiting, headache, palpitations, increased blood pressure, insomnia, blurred vision, depression (with prolonged use of high doses).

Special notes

Do not exceed the recommended dose and apply for a long time.
Before use, you must clean the nasal passages.
Do not use for more than 7 days.

Drug Interactions

It is possible to enhance the systemic action with the simultaneous use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO) and tricyclic antidepressants.

Overdosage

Symptoms:increased side effects.
Treatment: symptomatic under medical supervision.
