Composition

In 1 ml of the spray contains: Xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.5 mg.
Excipients: sodium phosphate monosubstituted; sodium phosphate disubstituted; disodium edetate; sodium chloride; benzalkonium chloride; purified water

Mechanism of action

Xymelin Eco is a vasoconstrictor for local use in ENT practice. Alpha adrenomimetic. When applied to the mucous membranes causes vasoconstriction, as a result, local hyperemia and edema are reduced. When rhinitis facilitates nasal breathing.

Acute allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, pollinosis, otitis media (to reduce swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa), preparing the patient for diagnostic procedures in the nasal passages.

Contraindications

Angle-closure glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, marked atherosclerosis, hyperthyroidism, surgical interventions on the meninges (in history), increased sensitivity to xylometazoline.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

During pregnancy and lactation should be used only after a thorough assessment of the ratio of risk and benefits for the mother and fetus, it is not allowed to exceed the recommended doses.

Dosage and administration

Apply topically for 7-14 days. The dose depends on the dosage form used and the age of the patient.

Adverse reactions

With frequent and / or long-term use: irritation of the mucous membranes, burning, tingling, sneezing, dry nasal mucosa, hypersecretion.
Rarely: swelling of the nasal mucosa (usually with prolonged use), heartbeat, heart rhythm disturbances, increased blood pressure, headache, vomiting, sleep disorders, visual disturbances.
With prolonged use in high doses: depressive state.

Special notes

It should not be used for a long time, for example, in chronic rhinitis. For colds, in cases where crusts form in the nose, it is preferable to prescribe it as a gel.
Use in pediatrics
With caution appoint xylometazoline to children under the age of 2 years (gel - up to 7 years).

Drug Interactions

Incompatible with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
