Mechanism of action

Groprinosin is an immunostimulating drug with antiviral action. It is a complex containing inosine and VD-dimethylamino-2-propanol in a molar ratio of 1: 3. The effectiveness of the complex is determined by the presence of inosine, the second component increases its availability for lymphocytes. Groprinosin stimulates biochemical processes in macrophages, increases the production of interleukins, increases the synthesis of antibodies, enhances the proliferation of T-lymphocytes, T-helper cells, natural killer cells. Stimulates the chemotactic and phagocytic activity of monocytes, macrophages and polymorphonuclear cells. Groprinosin suppresses the replication of DNA and RNA viruses by binding to the cell ribosome and changing its stereochemical structure.
The drug is well tolerated, because has low toxicity. It can be prescribed to patients in old age, suffering from angina pectoris or chronic circulatory failure.
With the timely use of the drug reduces the incidence of viral infections, reduced the duration and severity of the disease. The use of the drug is indicated in patients with insufficient immune protection. When Groprinosin is prescribed as an adjunct drug in case of infection of the mucous membranes and skin caused by the Herpes simplex virus, healing of the affected surface is faster than in the traditional way. Less frequently, new bubbles, edema, erosion, and relapse of the disease occur.

Special notes

The drug should not be used for hyperuricemia (increased concentration of uric acid in the blood) due to the possibility of increasing the level of uric acid in the serum and urine. If, despite everything, the drug is used, then it is necessary to regularly analyze the level of uric acid in the body. Patients with significantly elevated levels of uric acid can simultaneously take drugs that lower its level. Patients with acute liver failure need to reduce the dose, because the process of drug metabolization occurs in the liver. Elderly patients do not need to change the dose.
Impact on the ability to drive and maintain mechanical equipment.
