pharmachologic effect
Antibacterial, antibacterial.
Ornidazole is active against Trichomonas vaginalis, Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia (Giardia intestinalis), as well as some anaerobic bacteria such as Bacteroides spp., Clostridium spp., Fusobacterium spp., And anaerobic cocci.

Indications
Trichomoniasis (urinary tract infections caused by Trichomonas vaginalis); amebiasis (intestinal infections caused by Entamoeba histolytica, including atopic dysentery; extraintestinal amebiasis, including amebic liver abscess), giardiasis; prevention of infections caused by anaerobic bacteria during operations on the colon and in gynecology.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, diseases of the central nervous system, pregnancy, breastfeeding.

Dosage and administration
Inside, after eating.
With trichomoniasis: 1 tab. morning and evening for 5 days. For children appoint, once, 25 mg / kg of body weight per day.
For amebic dysentery: course of treatment for 3 days, adults and children weighing over 35 kg appoint 3 tab., once in the evening; adults weighing over 60 kg - 2 tabl. in the morning and in the evening, children weighing up to 35 kg - 40 mg / kg body weight per day, once.

For infections caused by anaerobic bacteria: 500 mg every 12 hours

Side effect
Dizziness, headache, gastrointestinal disorders, sensory or mixed peripheral neuropathy, CNS disorders (tremor, rigidity, impaired motor coordination, seizures, impaired consciousness).

Overdose
Symptoms: epileptiform convulsions, depression, peripheral neuritis.
Treatment: symptomatic.

Drug interaction
Enhances the effect of coumarin anticoagulants, prolongs the muscle relaxant effect of vecuronium bromide.
Unlike other imidazole derivatives (metronidazole), it is compatible with alcohol (does not inhibit acetaldehyde dehydrogenase).

Precautionary measures
At the time of treatment, lactating women should stop breastfeeding, I trimester of pregnancy.
