Active ingredient and dosage form

Chewing gum:
1 pad contains nicotine (nicotine-polymer complex 20%) 2 and 4 mg;
30 pieces packaged.

Mechanism of action

Nicorette is a treatment for nicotine addiction.

After abrupt smoking cessation, patients who use nicotine-containing products for a long period of time may develop withdrawal syndrome, which includes dysphoria, insomnia, irritability, anxiety, impaired attention, decreased heart rate, increased appetite and weight gain, and also desire to smoke.

When treating nicotine addiction, nicotine replacement therapy can reduce the need for smoking (and the number of cigarettes smoked), reduce the severity of withdrawal symptoms that arise when you quit smoking completely. It facilitates temporary abstinence from smoking and helps to reduce the number of cigarettes smoked by those who are unable or unwilling to completely quit smoking.

Indications and usage

Treatment of tobacco dependence by reducing the need for nicotine in the following cases:

  • removal of withdrawal symptoms that occur when quitting smoking in patients who have the appropriate motivation;
  • temporary cessation of smoking;
  • a decrease in the number of cigarettes smoked for those who are unable or unwilling to completely stop smoking.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to nicotine and other components of the drug; age up to 18 years.
Carefully: patients who have had a cardiovascular disease or have been hospitalized for this reason during the previous 4 weeks (including stroke, myocardial infarction, unstable angina, arrhythmia, coronary artery bypass surgery, angioplasty), or having uncontrolled arterial hypertension, have not been tested, have not been treated, have not been treated with, or have had an uncontrollable procedure.; patients with moderate or severe liver dysfunction, severe renal failure, exacerbation of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer; patients with uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, pheochromocytoma (due to the fact that nicotine causes the release of catecholamines from the adrenal medulla).

Dosage and administration

The dosage is selected individually depending on the intensity of smoking. If a patient smokes 20 or less cigarettes a day, Nicorette chewing gum at a dosage of 2 mg, more than 20 cigarettes at a dosage of 4 mg is indicated.

Nicorette should be used in all cases where there is an overwhelming desire to smoke as follows:
one.slowly chew gum until a sharp taste appears,
2. stop chewing and leave the gum between the inside of the cheek and gum,
3. When the taste disappears, start chewing gum again.

In case of complete cessation of smoking, the dose of Nikorette is usually 8–12 chewing gums per day, but not more than 15 per day. Nicorette should be used in the indicated dose for up to 3 months, after which the daily number of chewing gums should be gradually reduced to complete abolition.

Regular use of chew. gum for more than 12 months is usually not recommended, however, some people need longer therapy to stop smoking.

Adverse reactions

Nicorette preparations can cause undesirable dose-related (mostly) effects, similar to those that occur when nicotine is used by other means. The severity of side effects depends on the dose of nicotine.

Dizziness, headache; increased heart beat, atrial fibrillation; gastrointestinal discomfort, hiccups, nausea, vomiting; urticaria, erythema; sore throat or mouth, muscle jaw pain, allergic reactions.

Dizziness, headache, sleep disorders can be manifestations of the syndrome, caused by quitting smoking. When you quit smoking, the incidence of aphthous stomatitis may increase.

Special notes
