pharmachologic effect
Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, a derivative of phenylpropionic acid. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. The effect of the drug is due to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by blocking the enzyme cyclooxygenase.
Suppresses platelet aggregation. With prolonged use has a desensitizing effect.
Indications
- Diseases of the musculoskeletal system: rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis of the peripheral joints and spine: rheumatic lesions of soft tissues
- Muscle aches of rheumatic and non-rheumatic origin
- Post-traumatic inflammation of soft tissues without compromising the integrity of the skin
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Ibuprofen or other components of the drug, Acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs, "aspirin" asthma, pregnancy (III trimester), children under 1 year old, violation of the integrity of the skin (including infected abrasions and wounds).
With caution: hepatic porphyria (exacerbation), erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, severe dysfunction of the liver and kidneys, chronic heart failure, bronchial asthma, old age, pregnancy I-II trimester, children's age, lactation.
Dosage and administration
Outwardly. For adults, Ibuprofen gel is applied to the skin 3-4 times a day and lightly rubbed. The required amount of the drug depends on the size of the painful area. A single dose of the drug - 2-4 g (4-8 cm with a fully open mouth of the tube). The duration of treatment without consulting a doctor should not exceed 10 days.
Side effects
Local reactions: eczema, contact dermatitis (itching, redness, swelling of the treated skin area, papules, vesicles, peeling).
Systemic reactions: generalized skin rash, allergic reactions (urticaria, angioedema, bronchospastic reactions).
special instructions
The drug should be applied only to intact skin, avoiding contact with open wounds. After application, do not apply an occlusive dressing. Do not allow contact with the eyes and mucous membranes.
Overdose
Extremely low systemic absorption of the active components of the drug for external use makes overdosing almost impossible.
