Active ingredient and dosage form

Pills:
1 pill contains betahistine dihydrochloride 8, 16 or 24 mg;
Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, mannitol, citric acid monohydrate, colloidal silicon dioxide, talc.

Mechanism of action

Betaserc is a synthetic analogue of histamine. Affects mainly histamine H1- and H3receptors of the inner ear and vestibular nuclei of the central nervous system. By direct agonistic effect on histamine H1receptors of the inner ear vessels, as well as indirectly through effects on histamine H3-receptors improve microcirculation and permeability of the capillaries of the inner ear, normalizes the pressure of the endolymph in the maze and cochlea. In addition, betahistine increases blood flow in the basilar arteries.
Betaserc also has a pronounced central effect, being an inhibitor of histamine H3-receptors of the vestibular nerve nuclei. Normalizes conduction in neurons of the vestibular nuclei at the level of the brain stem.
Clinical manifestations of these properties are a decrease in the frequency and intensity of dizziness, a decrease in noise and ringing in the ears, and an improvement in hearing in the event of a decrease.

Indications and usage

- treatment and prevention of vestibular dizziness of various origins;
- syndromes characterized by dizziness, headache, tinnitus, progressive hearing loss, nausea and vomiting;
- Meniere's disease and syndrome.

Dosage and administration

The drug is prescribed by mouth during meals.
Betaserc 8 mg administered 1-2 tablets. 3 times a day.
Betaserc 16 mg - 1/2 - 1 tab. 3 times a day.
Betaserc 24 mg - 1 tab. 2 times a day.

Improvement of the state is noted already at the beginning of therapy. A stable therapeutic effect is achieved within 2 weeks of taking Betaserc and may increase when taking the drug over several months. The treatment is long.
The duration of therapy is determined individually.

Adverse reactions

Maybe: violations of the gastrointestinal tract.
In very rare cases: skin manifestations of allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, urticaria), angioedema.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug.

Special notes

Carefully It should be prescribed in patients with a history of gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer. During the period of use of the drug, patients with pheochromocytoma and bronchial asthma should be under medical supervision.
