Indications and usage

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (especially in cases involving obesity) with the ineffectiveness of the correction of hyperglycemia by diet therapy, including in combination with sulfonylureas.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, kidney disease or renal insufficiency (the level of creatinine is more than 0.132 mmol / l in men and 0.123 mmol / l in women), marked impairment of liver function; conditions accompanied by hypoxia (including cardiac and respiratory failure, acute phase of myocardial infarction, acute cerebrovascular insufficiency, anemia); dehydration, infectious diseases, extensive surgeries and injuries, chronic alcoholism, acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis with or without a coma, history of lactic acidosis, adherence to a low-calorie diet (less than 1000 kcal / day), conducting studies using radioactive Iodine isotopes, pregnancy, breastfeeding.

Adverse reactions

Dosage and administration

Metformin is taken orally. pills should be taken whole, during or immediately after a meal, washed down with a small amount of liquid (a glass of water). To reduce side effects from the gastrointestinal tract, the daily dose should be divided into 2-3 doses.

The dose of Metformin is determined by the doctor individually, depending on the level of glucose in the blood.
