Mechanism of action

Antiseptic. When applied topically as an ointment, it has an anti-pedicular effect.

Indications and usage

Antiseptic for use in ENT practice and for skin diseases. Pediculosis (for ointment).

Outwardly. In conjunctivitis, the conjunctival sac is washed with a 2% aqueous solution. In case of skin diseases, the affected surfaces are treated or a 3% alcohol solution is used in the form of lotions. In acute and chronic otitis, 3-5 drops are instilled, or they are administered as a turunda into the external auditory canal 2-3 times a day in the form of an alcohol 0.5%, 1%, 2% and 3% solution. In case of colpitis and diaper rash, the affected areas are lubricated with a 10% solution in glycerin. When pediculosis is applied once 10-25 g of 5% ointment on the hairy areas of the head, after 20-30 minutes, rinse with warm water, carefully comb out with a comb; when dry and cracked skin ointment applied to the skin as needed.

Adverse reactions

In case of overdose and prolonged use, as well as in violation of kidney function, the occurrence of acute and chronic toxic reactions (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, headache, confusion, convulsions, oliguria, shock) may occur.

Contraindications

Impaired renal function, childhood, treatment of the mammary glands (before feeding the child), pregnancy, hypersensitivity to boric acid.

Special notes

It should not be applied to large areas of the body. Ointment should not be applied to hairy areas with acute inflammatory skin diseases.
