Mechanism of action
Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic. Chlorhexidine is active against vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, as well as yeast, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses. It acts on bacterial spores only at elevated temperatures. Cleans and disinfects the skin without causing its damage.
Indications and usage
- For local use in the following cases: trichomonas colpitis, cervical erosion, vulvar itching.
Prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (including gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, ureaplasmosis), gingivitis, stomatitis, aphthaeis, periodontitis, alveolitis, disinfection of removable prostheses, sore throat, postoperative patient care in the ENT and dentistry departments.
- Treatment of wounds, burn wounds and surfaces; disinfection of the patient's skin.
- Handling of the surgeon's hands, medical staff and the surgical field before diagnostic manipulations, surgery.
- Disinfection of the working surfaces of devices (including thermometers) and equipment, heat treatment of which is undesirable.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine.
Dosage and administration
Treat damaged skin, mucous membranes with a solution using a tampon by washing, gargling or irrigating the mouth. In the case of infected rubbing, cracks, wounds, rinse the surface of the skin or treat it with a swab moistened with an antiseptic. To prevent STDs after urinating, men with a nozzle should be introduced into the urethra (2-3 ml) and delayed for 2-3 minutes. Women using the nozzle to irrigate the urethra (1-2 ml), vagina (5-10 ml) and hold for 2-3 minutes, fry the skin with the solution of the internal surfaces of the thighs, pubis, genitals; after the procedure should not urinate for two hours.
Adverse reactions
Allergic reactions are possible.
Chlorhexidine is incompatible with soap and also with detergents containing an anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose). Compatible with drugs containing a cationic group (cetrimonium bromide, benzalkonium chloride).
Storage conditions
Store in a dark place at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
