Active ingredient and dosage form

Orvirem syrup for children - thick pink or light red liquid, sweet taste with a bitter aftertaste.
A teaspoonful of syrup (5 ml) contains: 10 mg of Rimantadine hydrochloride.
the sunhelp substances: sugar, sodium alginate, E122, purified water;
in dark glass bottles of 100 ml, 1 bottle in the package.

Mechanism of action

Orvirem (Algirem) - antiviral drug. Active against strains of influenza A virus (especially A2 type).
It has an antitoxic effect for ARVI and influenza caused by a type B virus.

The peculiarity of the drug is that in it rimantadine is fixed on the sodium alginate matrix. This allows Orvirem to provide a prolonged circulation of the drug with a decrease in its toxicity, since rimantadine in this dosage form is not immediately released, which results in its gradual and prolonged release into the blood. This reduces the degree of toxicity of rimantadine, improves the pharmacokinetics and mechanism of action of the drug

Indications and usage

Prevention and treatment of influenza and ARVI in children from 1 year to 7 years.

Dosage and administration

Shake before use.
Orvirem taken orally, after a meal, drinking water, according to the following scheme:
(1 tsp = 5ml)

For prophylaxis:
Children from 1 year to 3 years - 10 ml (2 teaspoons) of syrup 1 time per day for 10-15 days.
Children from 3 to 7 years old - 15 ml (3 teaspoons) of syrup 1 time per day for 10-15 days.
Children from 7 to 14 years old - 20 ml (4 teaspoons) of syrup 1 time per day for 10-15 days.

For treatment:

The maximum daily dose is 5 mg of rimantadine per 1 kg of body weight.

The interval between doses must be at least 4 hours.

After each use, carefully wipe the neck of the bottle from the outside and screw the cap tightly.

Special notes

It should be considered when prescribing Orvirem to sick children with diabetes that the syrup contains 60% sugar.

Storage conditions

Store in a dark place at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
