Composition and release form

Metocard - tablets: 1 pill contains Metoprolol tartrate 50 and 100 mg, excipients: lactose; PVP; Magnesium stearate; CMC; rice starch; in the package 30 pcs.

pharmachologic effect

Metocard has a hypotensive, antianginal, antiarrhythmic effect.

Indications

Arterial hypertension, angina pectoris (prevention of seizures), cardiac arrhythmias, including supraventricular tachycardia, extrasystole (except for Metocardic retard).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, AV blockade II and III degree, acute heart failure, sinoauricular blockade, bradycardia, arterial hypotension, chronic heart failure IIB-III stage, cardiogenic shock, late stages and severe violations of the peripheral circulation, simultaneous administration of MAO inhibitors, intravenous Calcium blockers (verapamil, diltiazem) or other antiarrhythmic drugs (disopyramide), breastfeeding.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Perhaps the use of Metocardia during pregnancy, if the expected effect of therapy outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. At the time of treatment should stop breastfeeding.

Side effects

From the nervous system and sensory organs: headache, dizziness, nightmares, insomnia, depression, short-term amnesia, disorientation, paresthesia; blurred vision, dry eye, tinnitus.

On the part of the digestive tract: dry mouth, heartburn, flatulence, stomach pain, vomiting, constipation / diarrhea.

Dosage and administration

Metocard is taken orally, without chewing, with a small amount of liquid.

Arterial hypertension - 50 mg 2 times a day; if necessary, a week later, the dose is increased to 200 mg / day (2 tablets. 100 mg each). In the absence of a positive therapeutic result, it is possible to use the drug in combination with other antihypertensive or diuretic agents.

Angina - 50-100 mg 2-3 times a day, if necessary, may increase the dose to 400 mg / day.

For violations of the heart rhythm - 50 mg 2-3 times a day.

In the treatment of elderly patients, caution should be exercised (mainly dose adjustment is not required).

The maximum dose is 400 mg / day.

Storage conditions and shelf life
