Mechanism of action

Taufon (taurine) is a sulfur-containing amino acid that is formed in the body during the conversion of cysteine. The drug helps to improve energy processes, stimulates reparative processes in diseases of a dystrophic nature and processes accompanied by a sharp disturbance of the metabolism of eye tissues. As a sulfur-containing amino acid, the drug helps to normalize the function of cell membranes, improve energy and metabolic processes.

Indications and usage

Corneal dystrophy; senile, traumatic, radiation and other types of cataracts; and corneal injuries (as a stimulator of reparative processes) in adults.

Contraindications

Increased sensitivity to taurine.

Dosage and administration

In case of cataracts, 4% solution of Taufon (eye drops) is prescribed in the form of instillations of 1-2 cap 2-4 times a day for 3 months. The course is repeated at monthly intervals. For injuries and dystrophic diseases of the cornea is used in the same doses for 1 month.
