Active ingredient
1 ml contains 1 mg dexamethasone.
Bottle of 10 ml.
Mechanism of action
Dexamethasone - glucocorticoid drug for local use in ophthalmology. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and anti-exudative effects.
- acute and chronic allergic and inflammatory diseases of the eye (including conjunctivitis, scleritis, deep keratitis without damage to the epithelium, iritis, iridocyclitis, choroiditis, chorioretinitis, optic neuritis);
- prevention and treatment of inflammatory processes in the postoperative and post-traumatic period.
Dosage and administration
In acute inflammatory processes adults and children over 12 years old, the drug is instilled into the conjunctival sac 1-2 drops 4-5 times / day for 2 days, then used 3-4 times / day for 4-6 days.
In chronic processes the drug is instilled 2 times / day for 4 weeks. The maximum duration of the drug is 4 weeks.
In the postoperative and posttraumatic periods Depending on the degree of intensity of the inflammatory process, the preparation is instilled 2-4 times / day, 1-2 drops within 2-4 weeks.
Children aged 6 to 12 years with treatment of allergic and inflammatory conditions instill 1 drop 2-3 times / day for 7-10 days. If necessary, treatment is continued after a fluorescein test has been performed on the 10th day (to check the integrity of the corneal epithelium).
Local reactions: immediately after instillation of the drug may quickly passing burning sensation. With prolonged use may increase intraocular pressure (therefore, when using drugs containing corticosteroids, more than 10 days should be regularly measured intraocular pressure).
When used for more than 3 months, posterior capsular cataracts may develop. Perhaps slowing regeneration processes.
