Adverse Effects
Allergic reactions: skin rash, urticaria, angioedema; in some cases - allergic contact dermatitis, anaphylactic shock.
Gastrointestinal: rarely - diarrhea, dry mouth, constipation; with prolonged use in high doses - gastralgia, nausea, vomiting.
Respiratory: rarely - dryness of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, rhinorrhea.
Other: rarely - weakness, headache, dysuria, rash.
Special notes
Ambroxol in the form of syrup can be prescribed to patients suffering from diabetes. In patients with asthma, in order to avoid nonspecific irritation of the respiratory tract and their spasm before inhalation of Ambroxol, bronchodilators can be used.
Overdosage
Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia.
Treatment: artificial vomiting, gastric lavage in the first 1-2 hours after taking the drug; eating foods containing fats.
Drug Interactions
At simultaneous use with antitussive means separation of a sputum becomes difficult against reduction of cough; with Amoxicillin, Doxycycline, cefuroxime, Erythromycin - increasing their penetration into the bronchial secretion.
Ambroxol is compatible with drugs that inhibit generic activity.
