Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Combined preparation of plant origin, the action of which is due to the properties of its constituent components. It has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and expectorant effects.

Pharmacokinetics

Camphor is easily absorbed.

Hydroxylated in the liver into camphor hydroxymetabolites, which are then combined with glucuronic acid and excreted in the urine.

Eucalyptus oil (1,8-cileol) is absorbed both during respiration and through the skin and mucous membrane.

Metabolism includes camphor hydroxylation and conjugation of hydroxy derivatives.

Benzyl benzoate is metabolized by hydrolysis to benzoic acid and benzyl alcohol. Benzyl alcohol is metabolized to hippuric acid, which is excreted in the urine.

Indications and usage

Used in the treatment of inflammatory and infectious-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by cough: acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, tracheobronchitis, tracheitis, acute respiratory infections, "cold"

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug. Epileptic syndrome (in history). Children's age (up to 3 years). Damage to the skin, the presence of skin diseases in areas of the intended application of the ointment.

Use during pregnancy and during breastfeeding

The drug is not recommended to take during pregnancy (camphor penetrates the placental barrier) and during breastfeeding (due to the lack of clinical data).

Dosage and administration

Outwardly.

Theraflu Ointment® Bro is used in adults and children over 3 years.

A small amount of ointment 2-3 times a day apply to the upper and middle parts of the chest and back. Rub lightly until completely absorbed and cover with a warm, dry cloth.

Side effect

The classification of the frequency of adverse reactions:

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose (with an accidental intake of the drug inside) due to the presence of camphor and eucalyptus oil in the composition: nausea, vomiting, spastic abdominal pain, headache, severe dizziness, redness of the face, difficulty breathing, delirium, convulsions, depression of the central nervous system, coma.

Treatment: gastric lavage, Activated carbon, saline laxatives. Emergency care in a hospital: for convulsions - intravenous diazepam or the use of short-acting barbiturates.

Interaction with other drugs

Clinically significant interactions with other drugs have not been identified.

Ointment should not be applied to mucous membranes (especially the nose and mouth), to burn surfaces and to damaged skin. If the drug gets into the eyes or mucous membrane, rinse with cold water. Do not ingest! The drug is intended for external use only!

Does not leave greasy marks and stains on clothes.

Theraflu Ointment® Bro does not irritate healthy skin.

Influence on ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms

Theraflu Ointment® Bro does not affect the ability to drive a vehicle or machinery.

Storage conditions

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 ºC.
