Pharmacological group: Antitussives.
pharmachologic effect :
Antitussive, bronchodilator.
Reduces the excitability of the cough center (central action), irritation of the mucous membranes, has a moderate bronchodilator, expectorant and anti-inflammatory effect, improves spirometry and oxygenation of the blood.
After ingestion is rapidly and completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Butamirate is hydrolyzed to 2-phenylbutyric acid and diethylaminoethoxyethanol, which has antitussive activity. Butamirate and its metabolites are largely bound to plasma proteins (about 95%). After administration of 150 mg as a syrup, Cmax is reached in 1.5 hours and is 6.4 mcg / ml. When taking 1 tab. depot (50 mg) values of these indicators are 9 h and 1.4 μg / ml, respectively. Excreted mainly in the urine as metabolites. T1 / 2 - 6 hours (syrup) and 13 hours (depot tablets). Does not accumulate.
Indications :
Dry cough of any etiology (including in the pre- and postoperative period, during surgery, bronchoscopy), whooping cough.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity, drops - up to 2 months, syrup - up to 3 years.
Use during pregnancy and lactation:
Data on the passage of butamirata through the placental barrier and the safety of its use during pregnancy are not available. Use in the first trimester of pregnancy is contraindicated; in the II and III trimesters is possible only after consulting a doctor. During lactation, use is possible only if the expected effect of therapy for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the baby.
Side effects:
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, rash, allergic reactions.
Precautionary measures:
Be wary appoint patients with renal insufficiency. If the patient started taking butamirath without consulting a doctor and after 3-4 days of treatment, the cough does not stop, you should consult a doctor. During the period of treatment, it is not recommended to drink alcoholic beverages and drugs that depress the central nervous system (hypnotics, antipsychotics, tranquilizers, etc.).
Storage conditions:
In a dry, dark place, at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C, out of the reach of children.
