Active ingredient and dosage form

Oral suspensions:
5 ml of suspension contain Paracetamol 120 mg;
Excipients: malic acid, xanthan gum, maltitol (glucose syrup hydrogenate), sorbitol, citric acid, sodium nipasept, strawberry flavoring, azorubine, water;
100 and 300 ml each in bottles supplied with a plastic measuring spoon and a special protective cap.

Mechanism of action

Children's Panadol is an antipyretic analgesic. It has an analgesic and antipyretic effect. Blocks cyclooxygenase in the CNS, affecting the centers of pain and thermoregulation.

Anti-inflammatory effect is practically absent.

It does not affect the state of the gastrointestinal mucosa and water-salt metabolism, since it does not affect the synthesis of prostaglandins in peripheral tissues.

Indications and usage

Used in children aged 3 months to 12 years: to reduce the increased body temperature against the background of colds, flu and childhood infectious diseases (including chicken pox, mumps, measles, rubella, scarlet fever); for toothache (including teething), headache, ear pain during otitis and sore throat.

In children 2-3 months of life, a single dose is possible to reduce body temperature after vaccination.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to paracetamol or any other component of the drug; severe impaired liver or kidney function; neonatal period.

WITH caution the drug should be used in cases of impaired liver function (including Gilbert's syndrome), impaired renal function, genetic absence of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, severe blood diseases (severe anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia).

Adverse reactions

Gastrointestinal: sometimes - nausea, vomiting, pain in the stomach.
Allergic reactions: sometimes - skin rash, itching, urticaria, angioedema.
Hemic and lymphatic: rarely - anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia.

When taken in recommended doses, paracetamol rarely has a side effect. In the event of adverse reactions should immediately stop taking the drug and consult with your doctor.

Dosage and administration

The dose of the drug depends on the age and body weight of the child.

Children's Panadol suspension is taken orally. Shake well before use. The measuring syringe inserted inside the package allows to dose and dose the preparation correctly and rationally.

Children older than 3 months. the drug is prescribed at 15 mg / kg body weight 3-4 times a day, the maximum daily dose is not more than 60 mg / kg body weight. If necessary, you can take the drug every 4-6 hours in a single dose (15 mg / kg), but not more than 4 times within 24 hours.

Special notes

Panadol should not be used with other paracetamol-containing agents.

Children from 2 to 3 months and children born premature, Pediatric Panadol can be given only on prescription.

When taking the drug for more than 7 days, it is recommended to monitor peripheral blood and the functional state of the liver.
