Indications for use

Applied with acute respiratory diseases with symptoms of rhinitis (runny nose), acute allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, with otitis media (as part of combination therapy to reduce swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa).

Preparing the patient for diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline, arterial hypertension,

tachycardia, marked atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, surgery on the meninges (in history),

childhood

(up to 2 years - for 0.05% spray, up to 6 years for 0.1% spray), pregnancy.

Do not use in the treatment of monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Carefully

Diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, coronary heart disease (angina), prostatic hyperplasia, lactation.

Use during pregnancy and lactation.

During pregnancy, the use of the drug is contraindicated.

During lactation, the drug should be used only as prescribed by a doctor, after a thorough assessment of the risk-benefit ratio for mother and child. It is not allowed to exceed the recommended dosage.

Dosage and administration

Intranasal.

Spraying is done after removing the protective cap from the sprayer. The nebulizer is injected into the nose and, pressing on its base, sprayed for 1 second.

For adults and children over the age of 6 years (0.1% spray): one injection from the nebulizer into each nasal passage, usually 3-4 injections per day are enough; should not be applied more than 3 times a day.

For children aged 2 to 6 years (0.05% spray), one injection from the nebulizer into each nasal passage 1 or 2 times a day; should not be applied more than 3 times a day.

Do not use the drug without a break for more than 3-5 days.

During the introduction of the drug bottle should be kept spray

up!

Adverse effects

With frequent and / or long-term use - irritation and / or dryness of the nasal mucosa, burning and paresthesia of the nasal mucosa, sneezing, hypersecretion of the nasal mucosa; swelling of the nasal mucosa, vomiting, headache, feeling of heartbeat, high blood pressure, tachycardia, arrhythmia, insomnia, blurred vision, depression (with prolonged use of high doses).

Overdosage

Symptoms: increased side effects, including increased blood pressure, which leads to a reduction in blood pressure, bradycardia, a decrease in body temperature.

Treatment: symptomatic under medical supervision.

Interaction with other drugs

It is possible to enhance the systemic action with the simultaneous use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Special notes

It should not be used for a long time (more than 7 days), for example, in chronic rhinitis.

Avoid getting the drug in the eyes (the drug has an effect on

vision).

Effects on ability to drive a vehicle or equipment:

If you follow the dosing regimen, xylometazoline does not affect concentration. At dosages exceeding those recommended, it may affect the ability to drive a vehicle or equipment. Do not exceed the recommended dose and increase the duration of treatment.

Release form

Spray nasal 0.05% and 0.1%.

On 10, 15, 20 or 30 ml in plastic bottles.

Each bottle together with the activator in a set with a protective cap and instructions for use are placed in a pack of cardboard.

Storage conditions
