Mechanism of action
Kytril - an antiemetic drug. It is a selective serotonin antagonist (5-HT3a) receptors of the central and peripheral nervous system.
Indications and usage
- prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting with cytostatic therapy in children and adults;
- prevention of nausea and vomiting after surgery.
Hypersensitivity to granisetron or related compounds.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
In the absence of vital indications, it is not recommended to prescribe a cytril during pregnancy.
According to strict indications, it is possible to prescribe the drug to the mother during lactation, but in this case, you should stop breastfeeding for the duration of the drug treatment.
Dosage and administration
Inside adults appoint 1 mg 2 times / day during the period of cytostatic therapy. The first dose should be taken no earlier than 1 hour before the start of cytostatic therapy. For prophylaxis (before anesthesia) and treatmentpostoperative vomiting administered once inside 1 mg.
Adverse reactions
From the digestive tract and liver: possible transient increase in the activity of hepatic transaminases in the blood, constipation.
From the side of the central nervous system: headache.
Allergic reactions: skin rash.
Special notes
Due to the fact that Kytril can reduce the motility of the lower intestine, patients with signs of partial obstruction of the intestine after Cytril administration should be under the supervision of a physician.
No changes in dosing regimen for elderly patients are required.
Drug interactions
With simultaneous use with corticosteroids, there is an increase in the effectiveness of Kitril.
With the simultaneous appointment of Cyril with cimetidine and lorazepam, no significant interaction was found.
Overdosage
In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment is recommended.
Storage conditions
The drug should be stored in a dark place at a temperature no higher than 30 ° C.
