Mechanism of action
A broad-spectrum antibiotic from the group of aminoglycosides. Bactericidal effect. Active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, most Gram-negative bacteria - Escherichia coli, Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella pneumoniae; gram-negative cocci - Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, and gram-positive cocci - Staphylococcus spp. (including those producing penicillinase).
Low sensitivity or resistant to the drug Pseudomonas spp., Streptococcus spp. Anaerobic microorganisms, yeast, viruses and most protozoa are resistant to the drug.
Indications and usage
Infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms susceptible to kanamycin. Tuberculosis (in case of resistance of mycobacteria to streptomycin and ftivazidu).
In case of infections of non-tuberculosis etiology for adults, intramuscular or intravenous (intravenous) (drip) is used in 500 mg every 8-12 hours, the daily dose is 1-1.5 g; the maximum single dose is 1 g with an interval of 12 hours between injections, the maximum daily dose is 2 g. The duration of treatment is 5-7 days. Children are given only IM, the maximum daily dose is 15 mg / kg, the frequency of administration is 2-3 times / day.
For adults with tuberculosis - 1 g 1 time / day, for children - 15 mg / kg. Enter for 6 days daily, on the 7th day - a break. The number of courses and the total duration of treatment are determined individually.
In the cavity (pleural, joint cavity) injected in 10-50 ml of 0.25% aqueous solution.
During peritoneal dialysis, 1-2 g are dissolved in 500 ml of dialysing fluid.
In renal insufficiency, reduce the dose or increase the intervals between injections.
Adverse reactions
With prolonged use may develop acoustic neuritis nerve; microhematuria, albuminuria.
Contraindications
Impaired renal function; hearing loss, incl. as a result of damage to the auditory nerve; hypersensitivity to kanamycin.
The simultaneous use of kanamycin with streptomycin, monomitsin, neomycin, Gentamicin, florimycin is not recommended.
