Mechanism of action

Antiandrogenic, progestin. Active ingredient Androkura weakens the influence of male sex hormones (androgens), which are also produced in the female body. Therefore, in women, ANDROCUR eliminates pathological changes that are caused by enhanced androgen formation or hypersensitivity to them: strong hair growth of the face and other parts of the body, as well as acne and seborrhea, which are largely due to androgen-dependent enhanced function of sebaceous glands.

Indications and usage

Inoperable prostate cancer, metastatic or inoperable prostate cancer (without and after orchiectomy, as well as in combination with gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists), increased sexual desire with sexual deviations; antiandrogen therapy in inoperable prostate carcinoma.
Manifestations of moderate androgenization in women, such as:

• moderate hirsutism (pathological body hair of the face and body of moderate severity);
• moderate androgenic alopecia (moderate androgeny baldness caused by androgens);
• severe and moderate forms of acne and seborrhea.

Contraindications

• pregnancy and breastfeeding;

Dosage and administration

Adverse reactions

At the beginning of treatment with Androcur, abdominal pain, nausea, fatigue, dry skin, apathy, depressive states or anxiety, decreased concentration of attention may occur. Special notes

Before starting treatment with Androcur, a general medical and gynecological examination (including breast examination and cervical mucus smear) should be carried out. It is also necessary to exclude pregnancy.
In patients with diabetes, the need for oral hypoglycemic agents or insulin may change. Patients suffering from diabetes during treatment with Androcur must be under the supervision of a physician. During the period of treatment, care should be taken when practicing activities that require increased attention. During treatment, periodic monitoring of liver function is necessary.
