Mechanism of action

Galavit is an immunomodulatory drug with anti-inflammatory action. The mechanism of action is associated with the ability to affect the functional and metabolic activity of macrophages. In inflammatory diseases, it reversibly (6-8 hours) inhibits macrophage hyperactivity, reduces the excessive synthesis of tumor necrosis factor, interleukin-1 and other proinflammatory cytokines, active oxygen forms by hyperactive macrophages, which determine the degree of inflammatory reactions, their cyclical nature, and the severity of intoxication.Normalization of the functional state of macrophages leads to the restoration of antigen-presenting and regulating function of macrophages, reducing the level of auto-aggression.
The drug increases the bactericidal activity of neutrophilic granulocytes, enhances phagocytosis, increases the activity of nonspecific defense factors of the body.
Pharmacological effects are observed within 72 hours.

Indications and usage

As an immunomodulator and anti-inflammatory agent in complex therapy:
- infectious intestinal diseases accompanied by intoxication and / or diarrhea;
- viral hepatitis (for i / m administration);
- chronic recurrent herpes infection;
- infectious and inflammatory diseases of the urogenital tract (urethritis of chlamydial and trichomonas etiology, chlamydial prostatitis, acute and chronic salpingo-oophoritis, chronic endometritis) (for intramuscular administration);
- purulent-septic processes in the pre- and postoperative period and for the prevention of surgical complications;
- chronic recurrent furunculosis.

Contraindications

- pregnancy;
- lactation;
- hypersensitivity to the drug.

Dosage and administration

The dosage regimen and duration of therapy are set individually, depending on the nature, severity and duration of the disease and the dosage form used.
To prepare a solution for i / m injections, the preparation in powder form is prepared for preparation of a solution for injections in 2 ml of water for injections or in 0.9% sodium chloride solution.
For acute intestinal infections with diarrhea, the initial single dose makes 200 mg once. Then the drug is administered at a dose of 100 mg 2 times / day before relief of symptoms of intoxication. Course - 20 injections.
When viral hepatitis of various etiologies in the acute period of the disease, the initial dose is 200 mg once; then move on to the introduction of the drug 100 mg 2 times / day to relieve symptoms of intoxication. With chronic recurrent herpes infection within 10 days, inject 100 mg 1 time / day, then 100 mg every other day. Course - 25 injections.
At urogenital infections (chlamydial and trichomonas urethritis, chlamydial prostatitis) the drug is prescribed 100 mg 2 times / day for 1 day, then transferred to the introduction of the drug 100 mg every other day. The course is 10-15 injections, depending on the severity of the pathological process.
In acute and chronic salpingoophoritis, endometritis in the acute period, 200 mg is prescribed for 2 days 1 time / day, then 100 mg with an interval of 72 hours. The course is 15-25 injections.
For the prevention and treatment of surgical complications in the preoperative period, 100 mg is prescribed every other day - 5-10 injections, in the postoperative period - 100 mg in 72 hours. The course is 20 injections.
With chronic recurrent furunculosis prescribe 100 mg of the drug daily for 5 days, then 100 mg every other day. Course - 20 injections.
Suppositories in acute illness 200 mg (2 supp.) are introduced in the initial dose, then 100 mg (1 supp.) 2-3 times / day.
In chronic diseases appoint 100 mg (1 supp.) 2 times / day until the symptoms disappear. The course of treatment averages up to 10 days.
When used as an immunomodulator in the treatment of chronic recurrent herpetic infection the drug is prescribed in 100 mg (1 supp.) daily for 20 days.
When used as part of the treatment of purulent-septic complications of surgical infections Galavit in the form of suppositories prescribed 100 mg every other day, the course - 15-20 suppositories
