Active ingredient
Powder for solution for oral administration:
1 sachet contains macrogol 4000 (polyethylene glycol 4000) 10 g;
Excipients: orange-grapefruit flavor; sodium saccharinate;
in a pack of cardboard 10, 20 bags.
Mechanism of action
Forlax is a laxative drug with osmotic properties. Macrogol 4000 - a high molecular compound, is a linear polymer that holds water molecules through hydrogen bonds. Due to this, after oral administration of the drug increases the volume of intestinal contents. Not absorbed fluid that is in the intestinal lumen, supports the laxative effect of the drug.
Pharmacological data confirm the absence of gastrointestinal absorption and macrogol 4000 biotransformation when administered orally.
The laxative effect of Forlax occurs 24-48 hours after ingestion.
Indications and usage
Symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults (bags of 10 g for adults) and children aged 6 months to 8 years (bags of 4 g for children).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to polyethylene glycol or other components of the drug; toxic megacolon; perforation or riskbowel perforation; complete or partial intestinal obstruction; abdominal pain of unknown origin; inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease).

In children, diarrhea can cause irritation of the perianal area. Children may develop intestinal distention, nausea, rumbling in the stomach, and rarely vomiting.
