Mechanism of action

Means of plant origin. Causes a sharp laxative effect. In the alkaline environment of the duodenum in the presence of bile, ricinic acid is formed from the oil under the influence of lipase, which irritates the receptors throughout the intestine, disrupts electrolyte transport and retains water. The remaining oil facilitates the promotion of fecal masses in the colon. The laxative effect occurs after 2-6 hours.

Indications and usage

Acute constipation, poisoning, foodborne diseases, for cleansing the bowel before diagnostic procedures.

Inside 15-30 g 1 time / day (2-6 hours before the diagnostic procedure).

Adverse reactions

Abdominal pain, nausea, rush of blood to the pelvic organs. With repeated use of digestive disorders, enterocolitis, addiction.

Contraindications

Chronic constipation, pregnancy, intestinal, uterine bleeding, acute and chronic glomerulonephritis, nephrosonephritis, poisoning with fat-soluble poisons (including gasoline, carbon tetrachloride).

Special notes

It is undesirable to use in pediatric practice due to the high sensitivity of the intestines of children to irritants and the danger of dehydration.
Do not use simultaneously with the extract of male fern.
