Mechanism of action

PLACVENIL - antiprotozoal (antimalarial), anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive. It interacts with free radicals, stabilizes the membranes of lysosomes, suppresses the reactivity of lymphocytes, inhibits the activity of neutral proteases and collagenases contained in rheumatoid nodules, inhibits the formation of prostaglandins, inhibits chemotaxis, phagocytosis, neutrophilia respiratory burst, etc., and other leukocytes, etc. It has a moderate immunosuppressive effect.

Indications and usage

Rheumatoid arthritis, systemic and discoid lupus erythematosus, photodermatosis, malaria, incl. acute attacks.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, maculopathy, pregnancy.

Dosage and administration

Inside, while eating. In rheumatoid arthritis: 400 mg / day in fractional doses for 4-12 weeks.
With lupus erythematosus: initial dose - 400 mg / day; maintenance dose - 200-400 mg / day. The minimum effective dose is 6.5 mg / kg.
Oppression of malaria: adults - 400-800 mg, for newborns and children - 6.5-12.9 mg / kg on the same day of the week (1 or 2 doses with an interval of 6 hours) for 8 weeks.
With an acute attack of malaria: initial dose of 800 mg, then after 6-8 hours at 400 mg for 2 days. The total dose per course - 2 g.

Adverse reactions

Dyspeptic phenomena, blurred vision, damage to the retina, deposits in the cornea, alopecia, depigmentation of the skin and hair, neuromuscular blockade, blood formation depression, tinnitus, hearing loss, dizziness, headache, nervousness, psychosis.
