Active ingredient and dosage form
Pills from light yellow to light yellow with a greenish tinge, flat-cylindrical, with a chamfer.
1 pill contains 50 mg of mifepristone;
Excipients: lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, potato starch, sodium carboxymethyl starch, Magnesium stearate.
10, 20, 30, 60 pcs. packaged.
Mechanism of action
Ginestryl is a synthetic steroid anti-progestogen. Blocks the action of Progesterone at the receptor level. Progestin activity does not possess. Antagonism with GCS (due to competition at the level of communication with receptors) is noted.
Sex hormones play a key role in the pathogenesis of uterine leiomyoma, especially progesterone. The blockade of progesterone receptors may contribute to both the inhibition of tumor growth and the reduction of the size of myoma nodes and uterus.
Indications and usage
Uterine leiomyoma (up to 12 weeks gestation).
Dosage and administration
Ginestryl administered orally in a single dose of 50 mg (1 tab.) 1 time per day.
The course of treatment is 3 months.
Adverse reactions
From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
From the side of the central nervous system: dizziness, headache.
From the reproductive system: menstrual disorders, amenorrhea.
Allergic reactions: hives.
Other: weakness, hyperthermia, discomfort and pain in the lower abdomen.
Contraindications
Pregnancy; lactation (breastfeeding); adrenal insufficiency and long-term therapy of corticosteroids; acute or chronic renal failure; acute or chronic liver failure; porphyria; anemia; disorders of hemostasis (including previous treatment with anticoagulants); inflammatory diseases of the female genital organs; severe extragenital pathology; submucous myomatous nodes; the value of uterine leiomyoma, exceeding in size 12 weeks of pregnancy; ovarian tumors; endometrial hyperplasia; hypersensitivity to mifepristone.
Carefully use Ginestryl for COPD (including bronchial asthma), severe hypertension, arrhythmias, chronic heart failure.
Special notes
Patients with artificial heart valves or infective endocarditis should receive prophylactic antibiotic therapy when using Ginestril.
Drug Interactions
Co-administration with NSAIDs should be avoided.
At the same time taking Ginestril with GKS, the dose of the latter should be increased, since may decrease their effect.
Storage conditions
Store in a dry, protected from light, out of reach of children at a temperature not exceeding 30 ° C.
