pharmachologic effect

Myotropic antispasmodic. Nyaspam has a direct effect on the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract (mainly the colon), eliminates spasm, does not affect the normal intestinal motility. Does not possess anticholinergic action.
Indications

In adults

spasm of the digestive tract (including due to an organic disease);
intestinal colic (as part of complex therapy);
biliary colic (as part of complex therapy);
irritable bowel syndrome.

In children over the age of 12

functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, accompanied by abdominal pain.

Contraindications

children up to 12 years;
hypersensitivity to the drug.
With caution should use the drug during pregnancy and lactation.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The use of the drug Niaspam during pregnancy is possible only when the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. When prescribed in therapeutic doses, mebeverin does not penetrate into breast milk, so it is possible to use this drug during lactation. In experimental animal studies, no teratogenic effect was found.
Dosage and administration

The drug is taken orally for 20 minutes before eating. Adults and children over 12 years old are prescribed 200 mg (1 capsule) 2 times / day (in the morning and in the evening). The course of treatment is 2-4 weeks. If necessary, repeat the treatment. Capsules should be swallowed whole with water.

Side effects

From the side of the central nervous system: dizziness.
Allergic reactions: urticaria, angioedema, swelling of the face, rash.

During the period of treatment with the drug Niaspam, patients should be careful when driving vehicles and during classes of potentially hazardous activities that require high concentration of attention and quickness of psychomotor reactions.

Overdose

Symptoms: theoretically in some cases it is possible to increase the excitability of the central nervous system.
Treatment: gastric lavage and symptomatic therapy is recommended. The specific antidote is not known.

The drug should be stored out of the reach of children, dry, protected from light, at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
