Dosage form

Injection

Composition

1 ml contains 500 mg of metamizole sodium

Packaging

10 ampoules of 2 ml.

Mechanism of action

Metamizole sodium - the active ingredient Analgin - has analgesic, antipyretic and weak anti-inflammatory action.
The analgesic effect is due to the suppression of the biosynthesis of endogenous (pain-causing) substances, such as endopraxides, bradykinins, etc.
It is a derivative of pyrazolone.
The action develops in 20–40 minutes and reaches a maximum in 2 hours.

Indications and usage

Mild or moderate pain syndrome (headache, migraine, toothache, neuralgia, myalgia; dysmenorrhea; postoperative pain; in combination with antispasmodics for renal and biliary colic). Feverish conditions in infectious and inflammatory diseases. Use as an antipyretic is advisable after the diagnosis of the disease.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to pyrazolone derivatives (butadion, tribuzone), tendency to bronchospasm. Severe disorders of the liver or kidneys, deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, blood diseases.

Dosage and administration

V / m or / in (in case of severe pain): for adults - 250-500 mg 3 times a day. The maximum single dose - 1 g, daily - 2 g. Children are prescribed at the rate of 5-10 mg / kg 2-3 times a day. Children up to 1 year old, the drug is administered only in / m. Injectable solution for injection should have a body temperature. Doses of more than 1 g should be administered in / in. Necessary to have the conditions for anti-shock therapy. The most common cause of a sharp decrease in blood pressure is too high an injection rate, and therefore intravenous injection should be done slowly (at a rate of no more than 1 ml / min), in the patient's position "lying down", under the control of blood pressure, heart rate and number of breaths.

Adverse reactions

In therapeutic doses, Analgin is usually well tolerated.
When using pills Analgin in individual patients may experience adverse reactions:
allergic reactions (skin rash, angioedema; rarely - anaphylactic shock);
with prolonged use leukopenia may occur, rarely agranulocytosis.
With a tendency to bronchospasm may provoke an attack.
Possible impaired renal function.

Special notes

Caution is prescribed during pregnancy (especially in the first trimester and in the last 6 weeks).
When treating children under 5 years of age and patients receiving cytotoxic drugs, Metamizole sodium should be taken only under medical supervision.
Patients with atopic asthma and pollinosis have an increased risk of allergic reactions.

Drug Interactions

Due to the high probability of developing pharmaceutical incompatibility, one cannot mix with other drugs in one syringe.
The simultaneous use of analgin with other non-narcotic analgesics can lead to mutual enhancement of toxic effects.
Tricyclic antidepressants, oral contraceptives, Allopurinol violate analgin metabolism in the liver and increase its toxicity.
Barbiturates, phenylbutazone and other inducers of microsomal liver enzymes weaken the action of analgin. The simultaneous use of dipyrone with cyclosporine reduces the level of the latter in the blood.
Sedatives and tranquilizers enhance the analgesic effect of analgin.
