Mechanism of action

Sodium thiosulfate is a complexing agent. It has a detoxification, anti-inflammatory, desensitizing, anti-scab and antiparasitic effect. When poisoning with compounds As, Hg, Pb forms non-toxic sulfites. In case of cyanide poisoning, it forms less toxic rodanous compounds. In an acidic environment, it splits with the formation of sulfur and sulfurous anhydride, causing the death of scabies mites and its eggs.

Indications and usage

- Poisoning by arsenic, mercury, lead, cyanide, Iodine and bromine compounds.
- As part of a combination therapy of allergic diseases, arthritis, neuralgia.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Sodium thiosulfate.

Dosage and administration

In / in injected with 5-10 ml of solution, with lesions cyanide compounds - 50 ml of solution.

Adverse reactions

Allergic reactions are possible.

Sodium thiosulfate can be applied topically to treat patients with scabies. If cyanide poisoning is recommended, sodium hyposulfite and sodium nitrite should be used simultaneously with sodium thiosulfate.
