Active ingredient and dosage form
Butadion ointment for external use:
1 g of ointment contains phenylbutazone 50 mg;
in tubes of 20 g.
Mechanism of action
NSAIDs from the group of pyrazolone derivatives. Butanedione has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects, due to inhibition of COX activity and a decrease in the synthesis of prostaglandins.
Indications and usage
For oral administration:
rheumatism, infectious non-specific polyarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gouty arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, erythema nodosum, minor chorea.
For ointment:
Burns (1 and 2 degrees of a small area, solar), inflammation of the skin at the site of intramuscular injection and intravenous injection, insect bites, superficial thrombophlebitis, inflammation of hemorrhoids, traumatic injury of the skin and soft tissues (dermatitis, edema, hematoma, stretching), arthritis, synovitis, osteoarthritis, tendonitis, tendovaginitis.
Contraindications
Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, abnormal liver and kidney function, diseases of the blood-forming organs, leukopenia, chronic heart failure, arrhythmias. Pregnancy. Hypersensitivity to pyrazolone derivatives.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
When pregnancy is possible only under strict indications. The safety of Butanedione during breastfeeding has not been established.
Butanedione is applied inside 200-400 mg 3-4 times / day. After clinical improvement, the dose is gradually reduced.
Adverse reactions

Special notes
During treatment, Butanedione should refrain from engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require increased attention and speed of mental and motor responses.
