Cream for external use
Composition
1 g of cream contains methyl salicylate 0.15 g, menthol 0.1 g
Packing
Tuba 50
Mechanism of action
Distracting, analgesic. Ben-Gay irritates the sensitive receptors of the skin, expands the capillaries. Causes a feeling of warmth (menthol). Due to the warming effect, Ben-Gay reduces tension, spasm, pain, increases blood flow and facilitates the removal of irritants (lactic acid); increases range of motion. The effects are manifested in the underlying organs - joints, muscles, tendons, and some internal organs. Methyl salicylate, absorbed through the skin, can reduce pain.
Indications and usage
Pain in the joints and muscles, incl. inflammation, stiffness of the joints; pains in the lumbosacral spine caused by sprain; intensive sports and physical training (sports balm).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, open wounds, skin irritation, children under 12 years of age (for sports balm and ointment); pregnancy.
Dosage and administration
Locally. Ben-Gay: A large amount of cream is rubbed into painful areas of the skin. The cream is quickly absorbed through the skin. If necessary, the procedure is repeated after a few hours (up to 3-4 times a day).
Adverse reactions
Skin irritation, allergic reactions: urticaria, erythema.
Special notes
Ben-Gay is not recommended for use with warming compresses. If skin irritation occurs, discontinue use. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, skin irritation sites. If the pain persists for more than 10 days after using the ointment, you should consult a doctor. Lactating women are obliged to stop breastfeeding during treatment.
Storage conditions
In a dry, dark place at a temperature of no higher than 25 ° C.
